Zavest Profiles

Glynn Rigby - Founding Director

Glynn left the New Zealand Police in 1997 and spent the next eight years as an investigator in the private sector, based in Auckland and Christchurch.
In 2005 Glynn established his own company, Zavest, with the goal of developing an investigation company that was client centric and results focused. That model has led Glynn around the world, investigating multi-million dollar corporate frauds, asset recoveries, thefts and missing person inquiries.
Glynn manages the South Island office of Zavest. He is a Director of Professional Investigators New Zealand (PINZ) and is a long term member of the New Zealand Institute of Professional Investigators.

Tim McKinnel - Director

Tim left the New Zealand Police as a Detective in 2005. He joined Zavest as a Director in 2008 following three years as a commercial investigator in London and Auckland.
Tim manages Zavest’s North Island office from Hawkes Bay. He has continued with the client centric model that Glynn established in 2005 and has developed a sizeable commercial and legal client base in the North Island. Tim has a particular interest in criminal work and is continuing to develop a specialisation in that area.
Tim holds a Masters in Social Science (Criminology), is an Associate Member of New Zealand Law Society and is a member of Transparency International New Zealand.

Alan (AJ) Aitken - Senior Consultant

Alan left the New Zealand Police in 1996 at the rank of Detective Inspector.   Alan spent 20 years in the Criminal Investigation Branch and led many high profile serious crime investigations including the Cormack homicide at Napier in 1987.   He also helped set up the Proceeds of Crime Unit at Police National Headquarters in 1993.
When Alan left the Police, he established his own investigation company, Aitken Investigations Ltd based in Hawke's Bay and grew the business over the following nine years.  In 2005 Alan and his wife Kim moved to Australia where he worked in a variety of seasonal industries before returning to New Zealand in late 2009, where he joined Zavest as a Senior Consultant.
Alan is well known and respected in the legal fraternity and insurance industry throughout Hawke's Bay and has many excellent contacts throughout New Zealand.

Richard Neale - Investigator

Richard is a highly experienced investigator and security professional. He left the New Zealand Police as a Detective in November 2001, following 21 years service.
Richard held a range of positions in the New Zealand Police but in the latter half of his career he focused on the investigation of organised crime. As a result of his work, particularly his role in covert operations, The High Court of New Zealand regarded Richard as an expert in organised crime in New Zealand.
Since leaving the Police Richard has been heavily involved in security and investigation industries, holding positions of Business Development Co-ordinator for an Auckland Security Company.
Richard’s broad range of experience has armed him with a unique set of skills that now provide value to Zavest’s commercial and legal clients.
Richard holds a Diploma in Policing and is qualified as a work place assessor with a National Certificate in Security.
